Rickerbys completes £70 million deal - April 08
Leading south-west law firm Rickerbys LLP has announced its biggest deal to date, acting as legal advisors for the Norwegian-listed company, IMAREX, in their £70.35 million acquisition of international energy brokers, Spectron Group Limited.
This international deal follows on the heels of a large number of recent transactions undertaken by Rickerbys LLP.
Rickerbys has witnessed an increase in demand for corporate services which has been a particular catalyst for further growth. Nick Wagstaffe, formerly a Partner at Anglo-American law firm Dechert LLP, is Rickerbys’ latest appointment, joining the practice as Senior Corporate counsel.
Jonathan Morley, a Partner at the Cheltenham-based legal practice specialising in corporate transactional work, who was lead adviser to IMAREX, sees this deal as reflective of Rickerbys’ growing stature within this area of law:
“Acting for IMAREX in a deal of this nature clearly shows the strength of our corporate offering within the marketplace.”
“The successful conclusion of such a complex deal underlines the high level of service that we provide to clients. More and more, businesses are finding that we can deliver City quality advice outside London without charging City rates.” concludes Morley.
IMAREX is one of the fastest growing commodity derivatives market places, with a particular focus on ocean freight and energy. The deal is a milestone for Rickerbys LLP as, at over £70 million, it represents the largest corporate transaction undertaken by the firm.
