Rickerbys put the wheels in motion with latest deal - July 09

Leading Gloucestershire based law firm Rickerbys LLP has advised the Simon Smith Group on the business and property sale of Abbotswood petrol station in Cinderford, Gloucestershire.

The site was acquired in 2004 and renovated by Simon Smith Group provides a great range of services to customers. Simon Smith Group is a family owned partnership which runs numerous petrol filling station forecourts throughout Gloucestershire and beyond. The group has a history of purchasing freehold sites and refurbishing them and helping to revive the local area for years to come.

There were two aspects of this deal, the property sale and the business sale. Originally due to complete on the same day, the business sale was deferred to allow a smooth handover and for the buyer to convert to Shell. The property freehold was completed on 1 May 2009 and the business sale on 1 June 2009.

Rickerbys acted for Simon Smith Group on this sale, with Mark Fabian, Partner and Head of Commercial Property, handling the property sale and Jonathan Morley, Partner in the Corporate Team handling the business sale.

Lindsay Holland of Rowberry Morris in Reading acted for the Best Fuel Group Ltd in the purchase of this site.

Commenting on this deal, Mark Fabian of Rickerbys, said:

It is a pleasure to have once again advised the Simon Smith Group. I have worked with them for more than twenty years and they remain dedicated to improving sites in Gloucestershire to provide a vital resource for the community. I wish the Best Fuel Group every success with this venture.”

Brian Tew of the Simon Smith Group, said:

I would like to thank Mark Fabian and Jonathan Morley for their help completing this complex transaction enabling the site to remain open to serve the local community.”
