Rickerbys: Fundraising fun for WellChild - July 07

(First published in The Echo, 24 July 2007)

Leading South West law firm, Rickerbys, has raised a massive £3,000 for their chosen charity, WellChild, in just a matter of hours.

Staff members at Rickerbys took part in an after work auction on the 29 June that raised £2,100 for the charity in under two hours. Rickerbys' partners then rounded the sum up and presented WellChild representative, Dorian Ursell, with a cheque for £3,000.

Included within the auction, chaired for the evening by Rickerbys’ head of residential property Simon David, was an assortment of various items generously donated by Rickerbys’ staff. Chocolate hampers, a football signed by Cheltenham FC and the weekend loan of a fantastic Lotus sports car were all bid items at the auction. Additionally, WellChild itself donated a mountain bike and a meal for two at the Manor Hotel, Moreton-in-Marsh – both were highly sought after and became the subject of a fierce bidding war between Rickerbys’ staff members.

WellChild became Rickerbys’ chosen charity in April 2007. The WellChild organisation aids children living with chronic illnesses throughout the UK – uniquely providing a life-changing package of care and support, backed by extensive research.

Dorian Ursell, the WellChild representative who attended the auction, commented: “Everyone at the charity was delighted with what Rickerbys has achieved in such a small space of time. I would like to express my warmest thanks to everyone at Rickerbys for raising this money. This is a fantastic outcome and a great start to Rickerbys’ fundraising.”

Rickerbys has a commitment to supporting charitable organisations and WellChild will continue to be the main beneficiary throughout 2007.
