Rickerbys retain quality standard - December 06

Rickerbys are celebrating after retaining The Law Society’s quality mark Lexcel for the fifth successive year. The Lexcel quality mark is only awarded to solicitors who meet the highest management and customer care standards.

Lexcel accredited firms undergo rigorous independent assessment every year to ensure they meet required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management. Lexcel was launched to encourage law firms to improve client care and overall management standards as increasing the morale and motivation of employees.

An independent assessor spent more than a week interviewing staff and reviewing policies and procedures before recommending to The Law Society that Rickerbys continued to meet all the stringent requirements of Lexcel.

The Law Society’s assessor Barbara Marsh said: "Rickerbys has a well-embedded file review process in place. The central file is reviewed and examined and any trends or areas of concern are immediately addressed. This has now become an ongoing part of the quality review and will trigger any development requirements. The majority of files are in very good order with dates and information easy to read. The in-house HR team gives excellent support to people in a range of matters. Coaches and mentors have been introduced for fee-earners. New starters were extremely complimentary regarding their induction."

Rickerbys deputy managing partner Derek Jones concurred “Rickerbys remains far and away the largest and one of only a handfull of firms in Gloucestershire to have achieved Lexcel. We are fully committed to striving for continuous improvement in our service to clients, this being one of the firm’s main core values.”
