Gloucestershire Law Firm Raises Money for Children’s Charity - May 09
Leading Gloucestershire based law firm Rickerbys LLP has raised nearly £6,000 for local charity, The Pied Piper Appeal, of which £3000 was given to the charity on Friday 22 May.
Rickerbys partner Mark Fabian raised £2,700 in a sponsored four day 300 mile bike ride from London to Paris and contributions from the Bath Half Marathon Justgiving page totalled £300. Other initiatives included a Rickerbys quiz, monthly Mufti Days, a Christmas hamper raffle and Christmas card donations, an Easter raffle, Netball Match, Cake Sale and car boot sales which raised a further £3000.
The Pied Piper Appeal, launched in 1992, works to improve the lives of sick children in Gloucestershire by providing educational packages, child-friendly equipment, sensory equipment and other facilities and resources which are all extras that the NHS would not normally provide.
The charity initially campaigned to fund a new children’s hospital for the county, but with the growth of the appeal through various fundraising initiatives from its supporters, it now reaches out to help sick children from across Gloucestershire in many ways. It has raised more than £2 million to date.
Anne Compton, Rickerbys Managing Partner said:
“As a Gloucestershire-based law firm, it is important to us to support the local charity which does such good work for the children of the region. Rickerbys are delighted to be contributing to this very worthy cause, which is constantly working to build a better and more hopeful future for children in sickness and pain across the county.”
Roger Head. Chairman of the Piped Piper Appeal said:
“It is due to the support of people and firms such as Rickerbys that the Pied Piper appeal has managed to grow and give more than £2 million to help build the new children’s centre at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and helped to refurbish and revitalise the Battledown Children’s ward at Cheltenham General Hospital. We are very grateful to Rickerbys for all their hard work and hope we continue to receive their support.”
